Phone Screening

Questions: About trees and islands with 2 follow-ups.

Candidate's Approach

Initially thinking of a complicated solution, the interviewer prompted me to think of something simpler. I was able to solve everything on my own after that.

Interviewer's Feedback

Personal Rating: Hire/Strong Hire.

Onsite

Round 1

Questions: About interns and flats. Greedy.

Candidate's Approach

Did somewhat poorly; didn’t ask an important clarifying question in the beginning. The interviewer pointed it out once I had coded my entire solution. Implemented a fix but realized a bug in that too. Rushed to write the correct solution in the last 5 minutes, managed to but sacrificed code quality in the process.

Interviewer's Feedback

Personal Rating: Lean No Hire/ Lean Hire.

Round 2

Questions: About intervals, difference array related. 2 follow-ups.

Candidate's Approach

Got the idea almost immediately, solved everything without any assistance.

Interviewer's Feedback

Personal Rating: Strong Hire.

Round 3

Questions: About digits and subsequences with 1 follow-up.

Candidate's Approach

Solved the original question on my own, required a small hint for coming up with the solution for the follow-up. The interviewer said coding it is not required even though 10 minutes were left, I’m assuming the follow-up was just for brownie points.

Interviewer's Feedback

Personal Rating: Strong Hire.
